Mysterious Asia: Forgotten Legends of the Great Silk Road

Forgotte Legends of the Great Silk Road, collected from Uzbekistan, is an illustrated album contains just a small part of the many legends that have not been published for many decades. Some of them have never been published before. These publications are for everyone who is interested in the history of Eastern Culture and its influence on world civilization, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Kunya-Urghench, Shahrisabz, Kokand … These very names conjure up mythical images of the “One thousand and one nights”, fantastic sultans, dramatic adventures and charming girls. In reality the history of these ancient cities are all this and much more. it is a dual language book in English and Russian with illustrations.
 
The legends are Collected from all over Central Asia and portraying a colourful set of stories about the origins of people and places in the region. Furthermore they are evidence of the huge amount of trade and interaction with what at the time were considered faraway places of the Silk Road. For example, the legend of Samarkand is portrayed and interestingly bears many similarities to the story of the Trojan legend of Troy. Many legends have been passed down from generation to generation orally over the last two thousand years and this is, I believe, the first time they have been collated and written down by a well known Uzbek historian.
